Spider Mountain at the Geoffery Gordon Cup

The Geoffrey Gordon Cup is an event put orgainsed by Durham County Scouts.This yearit was located in the North Yorkshire Dales and challenging Explorers from around the North East to take part. It’s a mix of a massive incident hike and an huge orienteering challenge.

You have to be at your best to complete this exhilarating physical and mental challenges to complete the task
On Saturday the Teams started their challenge with a route of around 18km completing all the challenges which face them along the hike.

Spider Mountain was one of the challenges along the route with each team having to complete a time trial by climbing to the top with the clock stopping when the last team member reaches the bottom. The challenge was not just about time but also team work. The Teams had the groups helped each other during the taks and were given points based on how they performed.

All the teams completed the Spider Mountain challenge and the 18km hike as well. Despite the cold it was a great day.
